The National Heritage Institute - in partnership with: the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant Museum, the Ethnographical rural Collections and Museums’ Private Network in Romania, the National Association of Rural Ecological and Cultural Tourism and Ciuc Szekler Museum
– developed from August to November 2012 the cultural project MULTICULT – A Virtual Gallery Museum of ethnic minorities in Romania, financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration.
Outcome of the cultural project:
A Website (Romanian and English versions) - www.multicult.ro - provides a comprehensive documentary resource for those interested in ethnic minorities’ culture, the territorial disposition of museums /of public collections (that allows web visitors to select according to various criteria to visualise specific museums and historical monuments in the area, by means of an interactive map). Browsing is possible according to the following criteria: geographical, ethnic or by museum profile (mixed, art, ethnography, local history).
A Round Table: Cultural Heritage in multiethnic communities in Romania took place on November 6, 2012, The round table enhanced debate on ways to improve the protection and promotion of cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in Romania. Representatives of cultural administration, NGOs, travel agencies, museum and education experts, custodians of public collections in rural areas etc. attended.
